    Gender equality is a universal value, an international norm and a goal of democratic and civilized nations. In Vietnam, gender equality has always been a priority of the Party and State. Of which increasing participation of women in the political system of the country is an issue of strategic significance for the development of society.

  • Socialization of education in Vietnam-Current issues to be resolved

    Socialization of education is one of the major lines, strategic thinking for education development in Vietnam, meeting requirements for national development in the context of globalization and international integration and promoting the tradition of learning of the Vietnamese people. In the process of socialization of education, Vietnam has made remarkable achievements. However, there remain constraints to be overcome and many problems to be addressed to improve the quality of socialization of education, contributing to the development of a modern education, meeting development needs in the period of industrialization and modernization in the context of globalization.

  • Implementing sustainable development policies in Vietnam at present

    Much important progress was achieved in the implementation of sustainable development policies under the Decision No. 154/2004/QD-TTg on 17 August 2004, issued by the Prime Minister on "Strategic Orientation for Sustainable Development in Vietnam" (also known as Agenda 21 of Vietnam) for the period of 2004-2015. However, in the current phase, Vietnam needs to continue effectively implementing more sustainable development policies.

    Vietnam boasts a specific geopolitical position. This is evident in the resistance wars for national defense in the 20th century. In the 21st century, this position has increasingly influenced geopolitical order in the region and the world. For Vietnam, the method to solve the specific geopolitical problem can only be historical and cultural strategies. Challenges are high and opportunities are not few. Given Vietnam’s culture of thousand-year long history, the internal strength of culture to be take into account are the strength of the people’s aspiration, the national will, patriotism, and desire for development and cultural identity. These are "soft power" in the strategy of development and defense of the Fatherland. That is the assertion of Vietnam’s social science of at present level.

    In the late 20th century and early 21st century, the world has witnessed the rapid development of digital technology. Digital "tsunami" enters every corner of life, deeply and extensively impacting all relations of all circles, occupations, branches, and people from politics to economics, culture and society to foreign affairs; from manufacturing to services in most countries around the world.

  • Promoting education quality accreditation to contribute to improve the quality of higher education

    Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW "On radical and comprehensive renovation of education and training" adopted at the 8th plenum of the Party Central Committee, 11th tenure, on 4 November 2013 identifies education quality accreditation one of the important tasks and solutions to improve the quality of education. Education quality accreditation is a process in which educational institutions or training programs are evaluated to determine if applicable quality standards are met.

  • Proactively developing, implementing, inspecting and supervising the implementation of programs and plans to respond to climate change in each period

    Climate change has been a global urgent issue, strongly affecting countries, especially developing countries including Vietnam. Climate change is not just an environmental issue, but its implication has become a political, diplomatic, economic and social factor. So, on national agendas, policies on climate change are becoming increasingly important and given high priority.

  • Linking preservation of intangible cultural heritage with socio-economic development in Vietnam today

    As cultural creators, ethnic community and the Party, the Government of Vietnam have attached great importance to preserving and disseminating quintessence and unique values of Vietnamese cultural heritage. For years, Vietnamese cultural heritage in general and intangible cultural heritage in particular has become one of the important tourism resources, contributing to national socio-economic development.

  • Solutions to prevent and respond to current non-traditional threats to security in Vietnam

    Non-traditional security threats are very diverse and found in many areas of socio-economic life; causes to these threats are complex, including natural and artificial threats; have the ability to spread quickly in a large scale and transnational impacts. Some non-traditional security threats can transform into traditional ones if there is lack of security threat control, administration and coordination mechanism for action among nations.

  • Power must necessarily be controlled

    The Communist Party of Vietnam is aware of and has confirmed in its resolutions that state power belongs to the people. Power control is both humane values of a progressive society to prevent and combat degeneration of state power and society and to achieve the objective of genuine socialism for a sustainable, lasting state in people’s service.
