The Prime Minister concluded his official visit to Germany and participation in the G20 Summit

With 37 activities in the intense working program, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc's visit to Germany achieved positive results, promoting bilateral friendship and cooperation, particularly economic, trade and investment cooperation, and demonstrating Vietnam's active and proactive contribution to the international integration process through attending the G20 Summit.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc held talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel; met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier; met with the President of the Bundesrat, the Minister President of Rheinland-Pfalz, Malu Dreyer.

During talks, Prime Minister Angela Merkel warmly welcomed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to visit the Federal Republic of Germany, affirming that the invitation to Vietnam to attend the G20 Summit showed Germany's respect for Vietnam's role and position in the international arena and expressing her confidence that the visit would strongly promote the Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership in various fields.

The two leaders noted with satisfaction that over the past years, Germany has always been Vietnam's leading trading partner in the European Union. The two leaders agreed that both sides have a lot of cooperation potential and need to coordinate and facilitate the two countries' business community to interact more at bilateral business forums on the occasion of high-level visits or at global economic forums.

The two Prime Ministers noted with satisfaction the positive results of the Vietnam-Germany Business Forum held on the occasion of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc's visit with 36 deals worth a total of $ 4 billion signed.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also met and worked with other federal and local German officials such as the German Minister for Economics and Energy; Mayor of Berlin Michael Muller; Mayor of Hamburg; Deputy Minister-President and Minister for Economic Affairs of Rheinland-Pfalz state Volker Wissing; Minister-President of Hesse state Volker Bouffier and Speaker of the Parliament of Hesse state Norbert Kartmann.

During the visit, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and chaired the Vietnam-Germany Business Forum. In addition, the Prime Minister also had a dialogue session with German businesspersons and large investors and visited Siemens factory.

On the occasion of his official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, the Prime Minister met with staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Berlin; visited officials and employees of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Frankfurt.

Joining the activities of the G20 Summit, invited to delivered the keynote speech at the Discussion session on Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Energy, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc issued a strong message on the importance of strengthening cooperation in responding to climate change. The Prime Minister stated that, as the host of APEC 2017, Vietnam promotes priority topics in APEC 2017, namely sustainable development, response to climate change and effective use of energy; coordinate with APEC members to promote broad and indepth exchanges, establish cooperation mechanisms and frameworks for sustainable and inclusive development, both economically and socially and financially.

On the sidelines of the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc held bilateral contacts and meeting, meeting with leaders of the G20 countries (President of China, President of the United States, Prime Minister, of Australian, President of South Korea, President of Indonesia, Prime Minister of India, Prime Minister of Singapore, Prime Minister of Canada, President of Turkey, President of Senegal, President of the European Commission, President of the European Council, Director General of the World Health Organization), focusing on exchanges of orientations and measures to promote cooperation between Vietnam and G20 members.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany and attending the G20 Summit ended successfully, reinforcing the impetus for the Vietnam-Germany Strategic Partnership and continuing to transmit the message on Vietnam - a country of renovation, dynamic development, reliable and responsible partner of the international community.
