The high-ranking delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnam attended the APPF-27 to continue taking an proactive role, actively participating in multilateral parliamentary diplomacy activities, promoting Vietnam's role and position at this forum, contributing to promoting our common diplomatic efforts for peace, cooperation and development. This was also an opportunity for the members of the National Assembly of Vietnam to meet and discuss with parliamentarians of other countries about the common interests of the region and the world.

The Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum was established in 1993 to enhance dialogues among regional parliamentarians on security and political issues, economic, trade and cultural cooperation, contributing to solving regional problems, maintaining peace, stability, sustainable development and prosperity of the whole region.

The Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum currently gathers 27 member parliaments: Australia, Cambodia, Canada, China, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, the Marshall Islands, Mexico, Micronesia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, the US, and Vietnam.

The 26th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum Annual Meeting held in Hanoi in January 2016 with "Hanoi Declaration" marked the 25-year development of APPF, opening up a new vision for Asia-Pacific parliamentary partnership to 2030.

The theme of the 27th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum Annual Meeting in Siem Reap, Cambodia was “Strengthening parliamentary partnership for peace, security, and sustainable development," setting priority on the goal of safeguarding peace, security and sustainable development.

As an active, proactive and responsible member, the high-level delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnam attended the APPF-27 as the host of the APPF-26 which had made prominent contributions to the development of APPF.

In her speech at the opening session, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said that in 2018, the National Assembly of Vietnam actively implemented APPF-26's resolutions in related fields, including the resolution on promoting parliamentary diplomacy for peace, security and prosperity in the region and the world.

In order for the APPF to continue being an effective forum, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan recommended that member parliaments should continue to cooperate fully in political, security, economic, scientific, technological, cultural, social fields and sustainable development. In this process, an appropriate roadmap is needed based on the spirit of consensus, solidarity with the motto "not leaving anyone behind" and "turning words into action."

At the APPF-27, Vietnam co-sponsored two resolutions. The first resolution is about cultural and tourism development cooperation. This resolution is suitable for both the host country and Vietnam on the path of development, because culture is an important foundation for development and the potential of culture and tourism of the two countries is still very large. Through the resolution, both countries can introduce this potential to international friends. The second resolution is to build strong institutions to promote trade and inclusive development.

After 3 working days, the APPF-27 approved 14 resolutions based on 43 draft resolutions proposed by member countries and the Siem Reap 2019 Joint Declaration. Both resolutions proposed by Vietnam were adopted with high consensus.
