  • Perfecting the institutions to promote economic development on the basis of innovation in Vietnam

    Today, the development process of countries in the world reveals that innovation has played a core role in promoting competitiveness, creating job opportunities, protecting the environment and caring for people’s health, minimizing inequality and boosting inclusive and sustainable growth. However, so as to develop the innovation-based economy, it is advisable that a host of judicious policies related to diverse industries, innovators and resources be mapped out and implemented. As for Vietnam, the challenge posed is how to perfect the institutional system to promote economic development based on innovation as soon as possible.

  • The practice of awareness and resolving the relationship between economy and culture in Vietnam for over 30 years of innovation

    For over 30 years of implementing the country's renovation, the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has gradually realized and illuminated the relationship between economy and culture. As a result, the practice of resolving the relationship between economy and culture has achieved important results, greatly contributing to the sustainable development of the country. However, in the current context of many limitations, settlement of this relationship requires the Party to continue renewing its thinking to fit the new situation.

  • Regarding rural development and the role of culture in rural development in Vietnam

    Culture is one of the four basic pillars of rural development in particular and the country's development in general. However, awareness and implementation of this principle in Vietnam is still limited. Therefore, more than ever, under the current conditions, "cultural and human factors must be promotedin all economic, political and social activities." From the aspect of rural development, if cultural importance is not considered, it will be difficult to attain sustainable rural development.

  • Finalizing the tax policy system to restructure budget revenues for sustainability

    Over the past 30 years of the national renovation and development, having been continuously been reformed and revised the tax policy system has achieved important results, thus not only strongly supporting the national socio-economic development and international integration but also ensuring sustainable revenues for the state budget. However, the new national and international movement tendency has posed increasingly bigger challenges which require further completion of the tax policy system in order to meet the demands of integration and development.

  • Renovating planning, improving quality and efficiency of marine tourism to make it a true marine economic pillar

    Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW dated October 22, 2016 of the 8th Plenum of the 12th Party Congress on "Strategy for the sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy until 2030 with a vision to 2045” affirmed the viewpoint that Viet Nam must become a strong and rich country based on the sea with sustainable, prosperous, secure and safe development. The marine tourism is identified as a primary priority for sustainable development of marine economy, contributing to ensuring national defense and security, maintaining independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity

  • Developing the finance-banking sector in the context of the Fourth Industry Revolution

    One of the sectors most impacted by the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) is the finance-banking sector. Achievements of Industry 4.0 will greatly improve the finance-banking sector, but also pose many challenges in terms of institutions, information infrastructure and security risks, especially for developing countries like Vietnam.

  • Strongly developing processing and manufacturing industries to create a new impetus for economic growth

    In 2018, Vietnam's economy continued maintaining a high growth rate; its gross domestic product in 2018 reached 7.08%, the highest ever in 11 years. Of which, the industrial sector growth rate increased by 8.79%, contributing 2.85 percentage points to the growth rate of the total added value of the economy. In particular, the processing and manufacturing industries sustained their status as bright spots, a major driving force for promoting industrial production, as well as the overall growth of the economy.

  • Renewal of thinking about international economic integration

    Sustainable, innovative and inclusive development is attractive, appealing and spreading issue throughout the world. This is understandable because until now, no country claims to develop in a sustainable, creative and inclusive way. Even in the most developed countries, sustainable development is only relative; innovative development is found in a few areas and inclusive development can hardly be achieved. Therefore, sustainable, innovative and inclusive development in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industrial Revolution 4.0) has become a practical new direction that every country sees necessary to meet immediate and long-term needs and goals.

  • Vietnam economic achievements in 2018 and prospects for 2019

    The growth rate of 7.08% by the end of 2018 demonstrated the Government's strong governance and endeavor of all levels, sectors, localities, business community and people throughout the country in a year full difficulties and changes in the world economy.

  • Building Hanoi into a smart city in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution

    In order to build a Hanoi into a smart city in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, special attention should be paid to human resources in the field of information technology (IT), from stepping up training and building a contingent to cadres and administrators with technology thinking, IT capability to forming a generation of electronic public servants, connecting with the network of young scientists and intellectuals and pooling wisdom to build a smart city. Hanoi has encouraged the study of smart applications and solutions in all areas of social life and will submit to the Government for permission to roll out 3D technology and artificial intelligence at the general education level so that in the next 10 to 15 years, Hanoi will have a workforce meeting the requirements of these important technologies.
