    The growth rate of 7.08% by the end of 2018 demonstrated the Government's strong governance and endeavor of all levels, sectors, localities, business community and people throughout the country in a year full difficulties and changes in the world economy.

  • Building Hanoi into a smart city in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution

    In order to build a Hanoi into a smart city in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, special attention should be paid to human resources in the field of information technology (IT), from stepping up training and building a contingent to cadres and administrators with technology thinking, IT capability to forming a generation of electronic public servants, connecting with the network of young scientists and intellectuals and pooling wisdom to build a smart city. Hanoi has encouraged the study of smart applications and solutions in all areas of social life and will submit to the Government for permission to roll out 3D technology and artificial intelligence at the general education level so that in the next 10 to 15 years, Hanoi will have a workforce meeting the requirements of these important technologies.

  • Vietnam’s National Strategy on Energy Development up to 2025, with a vision to 2035

    Sustainable development has become the guideline, and viewpoint of the Party, and policy of the State. It has been integrated and clearly reflected in strategies, plans, programs and projects for socio-economic development and environmental protection of ministries, branches and localities. Given efforts of the entire political system, the close guidance of the Government, ministries, and branches, results of reviews and lessons learned in each implementation phase, the energy system of Vietnam will develop sustainably and meet energy demands for the socio-economic development of the country.

    The Vietnamese peasantry plays an important role in national construction and defense, especially in the current period when Vietnam is stepping up its industrialization and modernization. Therefore, building a new generation of farmers is an important task that requires efforts of all levels and sectors, including the leading role of the Vietnam Farmers Union.

    Addressing issues to restructure state-owned enterprises (SOEs) is always one of the top priority tasks. SOEs can only play the core role of a socialist-oriented market economy by productivity, quality and operation efficiency in a healthy and equal competitive environment.

    During more than 30 years of renovation, Vietnam has realized the policy of socialist-oriented market economy development. Economic achievements have been made, such as rapid economic growth, rational economic structure transition, increasing per capita income, thus improving people's life. Besides, the Party and State have also promulgated social security policies for the benefit of the people. In all Congresses, the Communist Party of Vietnam has regularly emphasized the role of social security policy and the Party's determination to implement the policy.

    At present, public non-business agencies in the Party, State, socio-political organizations from the central to local level are diversified in forms and assigned with a variety of tasks and types. Staffed with a large number of intellectuals and scientists, the system of public non-business agencies has made great contributions to the cause of national construction and defense. These agencies have provided basic public service to meet the needs of the people and society to achieve the goal of social stability and equality, contributing to implement the objective of fast and sustainable economic development, completing almost all and major Millennium Development Goals and deepening international integration.

  • APEC Vietnam 2017: Strong Dynamics of Growth, Free Trade and Regional Linkage

    The Summit Week within the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Framework with the topic "Creating new dynamism, Fostering a shared future" took place from 6-11 November 2017 in Da Nang city. This was the last and most important activity of the APEC Year 2017 before Vietnam transferred the role of APEC host country to Papua New Guinea. The success of APEC 2017 again (1) marked Vietnam imprint in APEC constant development, promoting the trend of peace, stability, cooperation and development of the region and the world, and meeting the aspiration and interests of all member economies.
